Hugo Award Reads

About the Hugo Awards: they “are science fiction’s most prestigious award. The Hugo Awards are voted on by members of the World Science Fiction Convention.” Hugo Awards are given for best novel, novella, novelette, short story, related work, graphic story, and more, including a brand-new (as of 2018) award for Best YA. The first Hugo Awards were given in 1953. Retrospective Hugo Awards, or Retro-Hugos, were added to the ballot beginning in 1996. They are awards optionally given by a Worldcon for works that would have been eligible 50, 75, or 100 years ago.

This list contains all Hugo Award winners and Retro-Hugo Awards winners for Best Novel, and any award winners for other categories that I have read. Some years may have ties. The year listed is the year the award was presented.

Books that I finish will be in green, and books that I start but DNF will be in red. Completion dates will be listed at the end. Starting dates are not recorded. If I’m unsure about the date read, I’ll just include the year. A * indicates that I have read the book before, but since I want to re-read it I am not guessing at the original date read. Percentages do not include DNFs.
