Throwback TTT ~ Books I HAD To Buy… But Are Still Sitting On My Bookshelf

It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday! Don’t forget to head over to That Artsy Reader Girl and join the linkup!

Today’s official topic is “Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With” but I can’t think of anything for that, so I’m going to do a Throwback TTT instead! This topic was originally from March 1, 2011, so very nearly exactly eight years ago. Wow.

Top Ten Books I Just HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Bookshelf

Anyway, this topic doesn’t really need any explanation, so I’ll just go ahead with my list.

  1. Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express
  2. Seanan McGuire’s Late Eclipses
  3. Jane Yolen’s The Emerald Circus
  4. Amy Tan’s The Hundred Secret Senses (and The Kitchen God’s Wife and The Hundred Secret Senses — because who wouldn’t want to buy covers as pretty and as matched as these?)
  1. Jenna Black’s Replica (and Nightstruck)
  2. Jessica Day George’s Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow
  3. Connie Willis’ Passage
  4. Chris Hadfield’s An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth
  5. Wen Spencer’s The Black Wolves of Boston
  6. Claudia Gray’s A Thousand Pieces of You

Most of these (if not all) will probably end up on my keeper shelf, too, to be re-read (or just looked at) whenever I feel like it. Some (well, one or two) may be read by Mr. Wyrm, too. (Side note, he also believes in having a library of books and actually re-reading them. I am so lucky!) So I don’t feel guilty about having them, even if I’m starting to feel guilty about not having read them yet.

  1. Isn’t it funny how we HAVE to buy a book but then take forever to read it? One of my reading goals this year is to read more of the books I own and less new books from the library. I’m not doing that great with it. I’ve definitely read more books I own recently than I have in previous years, though.

    1. That was an unofficial goal for me, too. In one sense I’ve been doing good because we already own the Discworld books I’ve been reading. But on the other hand, those books are all on Mr. Wyrm’s shelf, and haven’t reduced my physical TBR pile any… Good luck with reading your backlog!

      1. Hahha! I understand that. Even if I read all the ones I own, there’s an entire shelf of just Star Wars books that belong to my husband. XD
