BookWyrm’s Alphabeticals ~ B

It’s time for another Alphabeticals post! These are fun… won’t you join me? The lovely Alex of The Paperback Piano started this series, and I’m really enjoying it.

Here are the rules as Alex posted them:

  • Credit Alex for the idea, and link back
  • Post at your own pace, do as many or as few letters as you want
  • Post your favourite authors, books and characters (ABCs) for a particular letter of the alphabet

Authors beginning with ‘B’

Kelly Barnhill wrote my favorite read of 2017 (The Girl Who Drank the Moon) so she had to top the list of my favorite authors for this post.

Rich Burlew is a comic author/artist who does the webcomic The Order Of The Stick. The OOTS strips have also been compiled into graphic novels, and I buy those as soon as I find out a new one is available because I like having them in hand more than reading them online.

Books beginning with ‘B’

Bellwether by Connie Willis. This is a unique book, and I really enjoyed reading it.

Book of Night With Moon by Diane Duane. I love her Young Wizards series, but a part of me likes the Feline Wizards better. This is partly because it seems geared toward a slightly older audience, but also because its main characters are cats.

Characters beginning with ‘B’

Bilbo Baggins. He’s just a lot of fun, and really, any character who you can convince to throw you a catered party at his own house on no notice and who doesn’t complain (much) about it? That’s a win in my book.

Bathsheba Ironpaws fits this, too. She might not normally be on my “favorite” character list, but because I read her book recently she’s at the top of my mind. Besides, who doesn’t love a zombie-fighting feline spaceship captain?

I had to think about this one slightly more than the ‘A’ post, but that made it all the more fun! Still, it makes me a little worried for the letters where I know I’m going to be going through a little blog gymnastics to make everything work…

    1. I’m pretty sure it’s active again. I don’t follow the webcomic anymore, though, just buy the printed volumes when they’re ready. I know that the artist hurt his hand, though (I forget the details) and I’m pretty sure that’s what caused the hiatus you mention.

  1. This is a fun series of posts to do. I may have to do it at some point!

Bilbo Baggins is also a favorite character of mine. 🙂

    1. Bilbo Baggins is a fun character (and fun to say). One of the things I am enjoying about this post series is that I can post them at whatever pace I feel like.

      1. That does sound nice! I’ll have to look into it and see if I can do it at some point, maybe if I can’t do a book review or don’t like the prompt for Top Ten Tuesday.
