WIP Wednesday for 8 August 2018

Don’t mind me, I’m just over here in a state of denial that it’s August already.

In the meantime, how about some knitting? I’ve been mostly working on the Purple Majesty Boyfriend Sweater, and I’ve just about finished the second front. Next will be the sleeves, and then I can determine if I have spun enough yarn already or if I need to spin more. However, pictures of that project would be about the same as what I’ve shown off recently, so I didn’t take any new ones.

I’ve also been knitting on the Trekking is the New Black socks, but I haven’t taken any cool new photos of that lately, either. It’s still fun, though I’m hoping I can guess right on the toe and not have to redo it. I’ve never done a sock this loose before (it will be a great pair of socks for wearing with slippers around the house) but that means my typical toe shaping might not work. We’ll have to see.

And I started a new GAL square, the Portal square for the worsted weight blanket. But I only just started that one, so I haven’t taken any pictures of it yet because right now it looks like a teeny strip of knitting and nothing more.

But what I have taken pictures of is the finished D20 square!

I really had fun with this one. It’s the second time I knit this square, but that didn’t make me enjoy it any less. I did XDK for the number again on this one, so the front side says “20” while the back side says “1”. (For those who aren’t familiar with the real d20, the 1 and the 20 really are on opposite sides of the die.)

Part of me wishes there was a whole set of dice immortalized in yarn for me to knit. They wouldn’t all look as cool as the d20 does, though.

    1. Thank you! The XDK is done by drawing out a more detailed chart and reading what stitch needs to be in which color. Double knitting usually takes a pair of stitches and says “knit color A, then purl color B” but with eXtreme Double Knitting you could end up with a stretch where you knit and purl in the same color. It sounds a little tricky, but it’s really neat to watch the undecipherable chart turn into readable words or numbers.
