Finished Sweater and Random Thoughts

October 6, 2008

There is no order to today’s post. I’ve gotten in the habit of writing blog posts the night before, and then scheduling them to post the next day.

But this weekend I have been spending a lot of time working with Lyric Theatre, a local company on “The Rose of Persia,” a light opera with music by Arthur Sullivan, half of Gilbert and Sullivan. It’s a great show, and I hope anyone in the San Jose area looks it up (it’s playing in the Montgomery Theater downtown this coming Thurs-Sun) and brings friends to come see it. Very fun show.

It does mean I’ve been tired, though. It’s worth it, but it makes the blog random.

It also means I haven’t sent out Chris‘ gift yet. Sorry Chris; it will get there. Promise.

Did you hear about this? Part of the diary from one of the astronauts killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia trageday was recovered. I have no idea how they managed to recover the diary, nor how they RECOGNIZED it once they did find it. But it is a very sobering thought, don’t you think?

Oh, I have an iPhone now! Whee! I am loving it. Anyone have any apps to recommend?

I said finished sweater… here it is!

Finished Lotus Blossom Full

This is the Lotus Blossom tank I’ve been working on for a while now. I had a sneaking suspicion part-way through that it would be too big on me, and it is. So it’s a present now instead of for me (which contributed to it taking so long to finish). But it’s still done! Yay!

Finished Lotus Blossom Close

The color in the photo is horrid. Please see past posts about this sweater to find a better indication of the color. (It’s Knit Picks Shine Sport in Hydrangea. Very pretty in person, not this icky washed out color.)

  1. Oh… this is pretty! We love it!

  2. No rush – I have plenty to read. :D Congrats on finishing your tank! So… now what? Are you going to where it or gift it?

That is just crazy about the diary.

  3. The sweater is so pretty! Even with the washed out color..I just thought it was gray :-)

Pretty amazing about the diary…what a neat thing for the family I’m sure.

    Blessings,
    Sommer

  4. How beautiful! What a lovely lace pattern.

  5. a stormy sea crashing against shoreline rocks. Probably because of the grayish color it appears in the picture. It’s really pretty.

  6. This is very pretty! I want to knit it someday.

There is a stitchminder app that is pretty cool for knitters. Keeps track of repeats, rows, etc. and all for free!

  7. Beautiful sweater!

I read about the diary too. I found it amazing that it survived the explosion.
