Caught Up
So, I have caught back up to where I was on the Trekking Grandiflora socks. I have surpassed where I was, actually. I’ve even passed the heel on the first one.
See? Isn’t that cool? I’m knitting socks faster than I have in a long time. Go me!
I really like the yarn. It’s doing such fun things in this pattern! I like knitting the pattern as well, though there was a rather large disconnect between me and the designer when it came to turning the heel. I have no idea – none at all – where we decided to stop thinking along the same lines, but for some reason my heel flap is over different stitches than intended. I thought I was following the pattern, and it turned out totally different than it was supposed to. (Based on the projects listed in Ravelry, I’m not the only one who had issues reading the pattern.) (Edit: it seems there’s an errata note or two for this pattern. Maybe this would have fixed my error? I’m not sure.)
However, I think I am back on track with the socks. So what if I had to tweak the pattern a smidge to make sure I didn’t have too many increases or decreases because my instep section started in the wrong place on the charts. So what if it’s going to be a miracle if I can duplicate this tweak so the socks will match pattern-wise even if not color-wise. (I haven’t decided if I will try to match the colors up yet. Depends on where I am in the color pattern when it’s time to cast on sock #2, I suspect.)
I am loving what this sock is doing. So I honestly couldn’t care about the rest of it.
