It’s a Parade

WIP Parade

Well, two things don’t really make a parade, but still.

The above picture shows off my progress on the Mangotini Second Sock, and marks the appearance and completion of the Yarn Harlot’s Unoriginal Hat! This is quite something, because it is the second hat I have made, and the first that I ever had any intention of wearing myself. (Hats are fun. They go so fast! Especially on huge yarn and needles!)

Unorignal Hat 01

I made the hat over this past weekend, and it was great therapy for a hurting heart. Soft yarn, quick progress, fun cables… the only problem I had with it was that I couldn’t find the right size dpns on short notice, and so had to use a 16″ circ instead. But it worked. It just made the decreases interesting… :)

I am so going to make another one. I think for that one, I will hold two strands of worsted weight yarn together, and see if that changes the row gauge at all – the one change I would make if knitting this for myself again would be to make it slightly shorter from brim to crown. But I love it.

Mangotini

Speaking of love, I also love the Mangotini socks. They are so colorful and pretty! And a blast to knit! (To recap: they are the Cabletini socks by Wendy Johnson, and are knit from Spunky Eclectic’s sock yarn.)

They are a fun knit. And while they had been put aside temporarily so that I could knit the Hot Cocoa socks, now that I am unsure whether I should finish making them for M or tailor them instead to fit either my dad or bro-in-law, the Hot Cocoa socks are hibernating (again). Poor socks. They’re getting all unlucky through no fault of their own. But this is best, I think.

Don’t forget to leave me a comment on yesterday’s post with your favorite Christmas carol for a chance to win that snowflake!

  1. I’m going to Europe for the holidays, so I’ve been on a hat and sweater knitting frenzy. Might have to try that hat out… :-)

  2. That hat is really cute! The socks too.

  3. Oooo, I love that hat! Although I probably couldn’t wear white, I see a nice pink one in my future. Unoriginal it isn’t!

  4. [...] have been working on the tank a lot lately, partly because I got spoiled by the speed with which the Unoriginal Hat knit up – chunky yarn can be a WONDERFUL thing. Sport-weight (for the tank) isn’t quite as fast, but [...]
