Lazy Weekend
July 10, 2006Well, I just had a lazy, enjoyable weekend. But I got nearly nothing written. Very sad. However, I think that I’ve recharged a bit, and will be able to keep going with more steam than I’d had for a while there. I’m certainly excited about my progress, since I’ve now officially hit 75% complete. Only I’m beginning to suspect that even 94K is too high an estimate, which means I’m over 75%. But we’ll see.
In other news, I’m sort-of starting to plan for NaNo 2007. Even though that’s in November. I want to have a better outline this time around, and better character profiles and worldbuilding. I want to know what I’m writing, so that I come up with a better first draft. Don’t get me wrong, writing is fun and revising can be, too. But I’d rather write each story fewer times over so that I can write more stories. There’s too many thoughts in my head to need four and five drafts each. If I could manage two or three drafts (pre-editor, anyway) I’d be happy. Better use of my time.
So, NaNo. I’m either going to write Shadows and Ash then, or Into the Fog. I’ve started a little bit of text for S&A, so according to NaNo rules I should write ITF. But we’ll see. My main goal is to finish SS before November so that I can be done with NaNo ‘06 before NaNo ‘07. My secondary goal is to finish SS early enough that I can write some of my Elesare story before November. My family would like that, as they’ve been waiting for me to finish that one for some time now. But we’ll see. First I have to stop procrastinating, and start writing.
I find that if I plot out too much I tned to get the “writing bug” out of my system then feel absolutely no need to write the story. This is not good! Go write! End or seqential (posh word, I hope I spelt it right! ) go to it! =P
Saying that, I plan to do NaNoWriMo this year, and I feel to do 50 000 words in a month would require plotting, I mean planning. Um, both!
I’m writing, I’m writing! Over half done with Ch 31 now.
And NaNo is fun. I did a fair bit of plotting for it, but it was good practice.
